Ho Chi Minh City Introduces Restrictions on Daily Home Rentals

At the beginning of 2025, new regulations restricting daily and hourly residential property rentals came into effect in Ho Chi Minh City. According to official municipal decrees, short-term rentals are allowed exclusively in properties registered as tourist apartments.

The new measures aim to address issues related to public order violations, overcrowding of residential infrastructure, and deteriorating quality of life in residential complexes. City authorities emphasized that residential buildings are intended strictly for long-term living, and short-term rentals in non-compliant properties will be considered a legal violation.

An exception has been made for developments originally designed and registered as tourist apartment complexes that meet established requirements and undergo regular certification.

The introduction of these new restrictions reflects a broader trend toward regulating the rental market and elevating safety standards and quality of life in Vietnam's major cities.
